About

My artwork draws from personal grief, anthropological studies, and the vibrant world of nature. These influences help shape each piece, encouraging reflection on how culture and memory influence our lives.

TJL is my creative alias. It is a reminder of the love and hope that anchors my work. My art is inspired by nature, colour, grief, and anthropology. Through both painting and words, I explore how culture, memory, and human experience shape the ways we express ourselves and connect with one another. Each painting invites the viewer to pause and immerse themselves — not only in the visual surface, but in the ideas beneath. To deepen this engagement, I share written reflections and essays alongside my work. At times I also draw on my own studies in anthropology as well as the insights of academics in the field. These writings offer context, resonance, and a bridge between visual art and lived experience. I gravitate toward muted tones that hold depth without harshness, creating pieces that speak to the delicate balance between fragility and strength, sorrow and hope, memory and presence.
